About Us
Transformations is a nonprofit California corporation that was founded by our Executive Director, Ganeshananda, in 1986. We are an approved provider with the California Board of Registered Nurses and have been providing physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual education services in Orange, San Bernardino, and nine other California counties for the past 20 years.
We have helped thousands of people improve their physical, mental, and spiritual health, as well as their lives in general, by giving them simple, easy-to-use practices like Reiki, Avesa, T’ai Chi, Qigong, Yoga, and Meditation to effect their own transformation.
We have developed and created five T’ai Chi/Qigong exercise dvd/videos for adults (T’ai Chi—Enhanced Chih Style, Qigong, Vietnamese Longevity Stick, T’ai Chi Chih, and T’ai Chi Chair for those with special needs) and a very innovative, fun, and inspiring Power Animal Frolics--T'ai Chi/Yoga/Qigong for Children and their families. Please go to www.poweranimalfrolics.org to view and purchase this incredible program for your children or the child in you.
We have assisted people experiencing Alzheimer's; Parkinson's; AIDS; cancer; death; financial challenges; back pain; sports injuries; depression; divorce; chronic asthma; arthritis; sleep disorders; sexual, mental and physical abuse; chronic fatigue syndrome; migraines; multiple sclerosis; comatose states; dissociative identity disorder; addictions; severe concussions; emotional conflicts; and more.
We have offered loving, bedside hospice and other transition services for people preparing to leave their bodies.
We collaborated with artists, community members, and child development specialists in the creation of four children’s “Color Me Tobacco Free” story/coloring books written by our Executive Director, Ganeshananda, that have helped over 50,000 children ages 2 - 8 develop strong negative attitudes toward tobacco use and secondhand smoke. We have also published over 50 children’s and family stories on self esteem, values, and handling the challenges of modern daily life from a universal perspective. These original stories can be viewed at www.blissbearybear.org
We created four colorful, interactive “Power of Choice” software programs for school-age children that have been used in hundreds of agencies and at several statewide conferences. These programs use games, stories, and imagery to illustrate the dangers of secondhand smoke, while exposing the tobacco industry's efforts to manipulate children into becoming smokers. Thousands of program users have experienced a doubling of tobacco-related knowledge and a 600-800% decrease in the "intent to try" tobacco.
We created a "Protect Our Children" message and related artwork that convinced people in numerous communities who were not previously interested in tobacco related issues that secondhand smoke was extremely hazardous to their children.
We have successfully managed over $1,500,000 in grant funds and are a leader in tobacco education/prevention services. We have formed a number of coalitions and assisted over 200 organizations in training their leaders, boards, and staff to replicate programs that have served over 20,000 people. Our tobacco education and intervention programs have been used by over 75% of the military bases in California. We guided Camp Pendleton and Perris Island (the only two Marine Basic Training Camps in the United States) to become completely tobacco-free for all recruits during Basic Training. We also opened the first Boys & Girls Clubs on military bases, helping develop the model for over 300 clubs on military bases nationwide.
Our efforts have led to the city of Stanton enacting a ban of self-service tobacco displays and the city of Los Alamitos enforcing local advertising ordinances. In other cities we have significantly reduced youth and adult exposure to tobacco smoke in homes, autos, bars, and bingo games; significantly reduced the availability of tobacco products to youth; and successfully countered pro-tobacco influences through a community awareness and media campaign. To achieve these results we worked closely with city government, community leaders, at-risk children of various ages, business owners and associations, media representatives, ethnic populations, parents, and local law enforcement.
Our staff and advisors include a Ph.D. in psychology, social worker, artist, and an Ayurvedic Physician with over 20 years of practice in India.
